MWHT host British Water’s Women in Water Conference

;

MWH Treatment are honoured to have hosted the 2nd British Water Women in Water conference on Wednesday 16th October 2019.  The annual event run by British Water is aimed at supporting women in the industry with their career and personal development by presenting them with tools, tips, advice and case studies all underpinned by a message of empowerment and progression.

On the day Angie Needle, founder of the Women’s Utility Network, delivered a keynote speech on empowerment.  Other inspirational speakers included Lila Thompson, Chief Executive, British Water, Louise Beardmore, Customer Services and People Director, United Utilities and our own Hilary Tew, HR Director. There were great breakout sessions and plenty opportunities for networking as women from all around the industry came together for a terrific event.

MWH Treatment HR Director Hilary Tew said: “It was an honour for MWH Treatment to host this fantastic event at our Salford office. The Women in Water conference was an excellent opportunity to hear so many thought-provoking stories and experiences from passionate women in our industry. Embracing diversity and inclusion in the industry is quite simply a must.”

British Water chief executive Lila Thompson said, “One of the important things about Women in Water is that it’s not just an event, it’s now a campaign, and we’re building our resources and incorporating other organisations’ actions and events. We’ve already had some excellent feedback from delegates that will help determine our next steps as we build on this important initiative.”
