“It is great to be working out on site actually using mechanical engineering, plus the Early Careers Programme is certainly improving my softer skills. I think most of all I am enjoying being part of a professional community, especially one that provides the nation with clean drinking water and protects our natural environment.”

Thomas Charnley, Graduate

Thomas’ Story

With a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, I knew following the Graduate assessment day, that I wanted to be part of the professional community that makes up MWH Treatment. They have helped greatly in my development both in the technical knowledge I require within my role and the interpersonal skills required to achieve my Chartership and become a professional engineer.

Soon after I started with MWH Treatment I was given the responsibility of my own project. Initially daunting as a recent graduate starter however, the support from within my department and design team was huge, making the role significantly more manageable. I have worked on numerous projects now across the UK, visiting sites to gather critical information, using industry leading digital technology to create designs, meeting with clients and working within multidisciplinary teams to achieve a safe and successful design outcome.

I enjoy working within a design team with other professionals, sharing ideas, solving problems and working towards successful and safe projects. Knowing that these projects are providing the nation with clean drinking water and protecting the natural world makes the role even more rewarding.
